Product Description
To fulfill the need for white light sources in general lighting, scientists successfully developed the LED that emits white light back in 1998. This LED is created through packaging a GaN chip with yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG). The blue light (λp=465nm, Wd=30nm) emitted by the GaN chip is used to excite the Ce3+ containing YAG phosphor powder, which produces yellow light with a peak value of 550nm. The reflective cavity where the blue LED substrate is installed has a bowl-like shape and is covered with a thin layer of resin mixed with YAG at around 200-500nm. The phosphor absorbs a portion of the blue light, while the rest is mixed with the yellow light emitted by the phosphor to produce white light.
